Originating from Montecristi, Ecuador, each hat is meticulously handwoven by artisans using traditional techniques. Depending on the weave, a single piece can take up to two days to craft.
Our hats begin with toquilla straw, a natural fiber derived from the leaves of Carludovica palmata (its botanical name), a plant native to Ecuador. Each strand is carefully harvested, boiled, sun-dried, and prepared by hand before weaving begins.
Naturally breathable, lightweight, and remarkably durable, this fiber gives a true Panama hat its distinctive elegance and comfort.
